How long does a Callan for Kids course last?
Many factors can affect how quickly a class progresses so we can’t give a definite answer. However, we assume that an average class could move forward at a rate of around 2 or 3 pages of new work for each period. Based on this progress rate, a Callan for Kids course will take around 150 lessons to complete. (That’s around 18 months with two 50-minute lessons a week)
How does Callan for Kids integrate with main Callan stages?
On completing Callan for Kids, pupils have covered all the grammatical content and almost all the vocabulary with the main Callan Stages 1-3, as well as some grammatical content and vocabulary from higher-level stages. On finishing Callan for Kids, therefore, many children can move into Stage 4 of main Callan, given that they should be extremely used to how the Callan Method works by then. Feedback from several schools says that 11 and 12 year olds are easily able to cope with the Callan Method very well.
Will our school need special training?
As mentioned elsewhere, Callan for Kids is primarily a Callan Method course so an Accredited School can start to use it without the need for special training. The Teacher’s Books also contain a comprehensive instruction section and information on how to do the activities.
