Alison JonesInternational Development Managerx
My first teaching job in the Callan world was in Italy, in 1984. Since then, I’ve taught with the Method in various countries, I’ve been a teacher trainer at Callan School London, and I’ve also run training courses in schools all over the world. Luckily, travelling is my passion (along with Manchester United of course)! Nowadays, my main role is to help schools maintain quality control through training and other support.

I started out as a teacher at Callan School London back in 1997, and since 2004 I’ve been training people all over the world to teach with the Method. I’m involved in assessing schools as part of their application for Callan Accreditation, and I was also part of the team that produced the new edition of the Callan Method books. Outside work, I’m a long-suffering Charlton Athletic fan, and if I’m not watching football then you can probably find me at the cinema.

I joined the Callan team in Grantchester in 2012 and have recently taken on a new role as Business Development Executive, specifically focussing on Callan for Kids. I’ve worked closely with lots of our schools during the Accreditation process over the years, and am looking forward to continuing to work closely with them in my new role. Outside of work I enjoy reading crime fiction, cooking (especially baking) and pottery.

I’ve worked with the Callan Method since the late 1980s, both as a teacher and teacher-trainer. More recently, alongside extensive freelance writing work for Oxford University Press, I headed up the revision of all the Callan Method stages, and since then have been responsible for other products including Callan for Business, the Callan Method Teacher’s Guide, Callan for Kids, and Callan Español. I’m now busy developing more new and exciting Callan products. When I’m not working, I’m normally out enjoying life in London, or playing my beloved 70s Fender Stratocaster.

I joined the Callan team in 2012 as Brazil Country Manager and carried out this role for four years. During this time we introduced new accreditation, training and distribution initiatives to facilitate business growth in the region. Byron York took over this position in 2016 and I now focus on business development projects with schools in Europe, Asia and Australasia.
I was born in Manchester, England and have also lived in France, Switzerland, Japan, Brazil and Australia though most of my business development experience was gained over 20 years working in Africa and the Middle East. I enjoy playing and watching all forms of sport, particularly football, rugby, squash, golf and tennis.
